Psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses talk-based techniques to help individuals understand and resolve their emotional and behavioral issues. It is typically conducted by psychologists or therapists. Psychiatry, on the other hand, is a field that focuses on the medical aspects of mental illnesses and is carried out by psychiatrists, who have the authority to prescribe medication. The primary difference between the two is that psychiatry focuses on medical treatment, while psychotherapy focuses on personal awareness and behavioral change. However, in many cases, these two approaches can work together to provide more comprehensive treatment, especially for complex or chronic mental health issues. While medication management addresses symptoms, psychotherapy can delve into the root causes and offer long-term recovery.
The therapists at Vivora Therapy adopt an eclectic approach, considering individual needs and using techniques from multiple therapeutic schools. This approach makes the therapy process more flexible and effective, achieving success both in short-term symptom management and long-term recovery goals. The methods used include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), schema therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and EMDR.
According to research, the recovery rates between online therapy and in-person therapy are generally similar. Both therapy methods can yield effective results when applied according to the individual’s needs. Online therapy, especially with structured approaches, has high success rates. The success of therapy depends more on the therapist-client rapport and the client’s commitment to the therapy, rather than the type of method used. Choosing a therapy method that aligns with personal preferences can enhance the efficiency of the process.
At Vivora Therapy, each session is planned to last 50 minutes and is held at regular intervals set collaboratively by the client and therapist. Regular attendance during the psychotherapy process is crucial for the effectiveness of the therapy. Irregular or infrequent sessions can negatively impact the results. Therefore, clients are encouraged to stick to the agreed schedule to maximize the benefits of the process.
Vivora Therapy adopts confidentiality as a fundamental principle to ensure client trust and provide services in accordance with ethical standards. Information shared during the psychotherapy process is not disclosed to third parties and is kept entirely confidential. However, confidentiality may be limited in cases where there is a risk of harm to the client or others, the potential spread of a contagious disease, or legal obligations such as a court subpoena. In such exceptional situations, the safety of the client and others is prioritized, and necessary steps are taken in accordance with ethical guidelines. Vivora Therapy commits to protecting confidentiality and ensuring safety by informing clients about these processes.
The psychotherapy process may involve certain emotional risks; clients may experience discomfort, sadness, or stress while working on certain issues. This is considered a natural step in resolving problems. An improvement in quality of life is expected at the end of the process; however, since each individual responds to therapy differently, a guaranteed success cannot be promised. If a client is unable to establish rapport with the therapist, the process can be terminated at the client’s request, and this decision is made with mutual understanding.
